Fire up the grills! With summer right around the corner, the season will be here soon for backyard barbeques and fun in the sun. A proper cleaning of your grill rack will help keep your food from sticking during grilling and let the true flavor of your food shine through. Keep in mind that cleaning a grill does not have to be a tiresome task. To avoid having to put a lot of elbow grease into this chore try this at home…

Simply take the racks outside where you can spray them down with a hose and either spray the racks with full strength CLR Grease Magnet or let them soak. Allow the Grease Magnet to sit on the racks for about five minutes. You should be able to see the grease melt away right before your eyes. Rinse the grill with cool, clean water from your hose and you are ready to go. For faster results loosen any caked on grit or grease with a hard bristled brush before adding Grease Magnet.

Find out how… Tarn-X reduced the cleaning of a 100-year-old 5 piece silver tea set from hours to 15 to 20 minutes. Barbara wrote to us last March that a friend of hers had introduced her to Tarn-X four years ago and that ever since then she had been dipping her tea set into a half bottle of Tarn-X, rinsing it and simply wiping it clean.

For best use of Tarn-X, we recommend using a cotton ball or soft cloth, applying the product, rinsing the item in cool water and then wiping it clean. However, dipping smaller items (such as sterling silver jewelry) may be easier. It is important to rinse with cold water immediately and do not let Tarn-X dry. Never keep Tarn-X on an item longer than a maximum of two minutes. If Tarn-X is left on an item too long or dries, the item may discolor.

If discoloration occurs simply follow these steps. To remove the discoloration, fill a small bowl with 1/2 warm water, 1/2 Tarn-X and two drops of dish soap (Palmolive, Joy, etc.). With a soft clean cloth, wash the item with the mixture and rinse with cold, clean water immediately. Dry the item off with a soft clean cloth. As a final step, apply a silver polish, such as Tarn-X Silver Glaze to protect the item. This should restore your piece to its original condition. For large items, make sure you clean about 1/3 of the item at a time.

Cleaning Solutions from Sue Sherry wrote to us in February about a problem she was having in her shower. Her husband is an automotive transmission mechanic and when he showers he leaves behind ground in grease. Since the shower is very porous, she found it difficult to get the grease out and keep the shower clean.

CLR was her answer. CLR is a powerful formula available for dissolving tough calcium, lime deposits and surface rust stains from your tubs, toilet bowls, sinks, glass, chrome, fiberglass and stainless steel. CLR can also be used to clean coffeepots and humidifiers and outside to remove surface rust stains from cement and stucco.
