Jelmar has entered into a partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency in their Safer Choice Program (formerly Design for the Environment (DfE)) for safer chemistry to promote the health of you our customers and the environment. As we can all appreciate, the EPA is concerned about the effect certain chemicals might have on the environment, the health and safety of workers and the public who use cleaning products or may come in contact with them.
The EPA’s Safer Choice Program believes that companies can improve the environmental and health characteristics of their products by using ingredients that are less toxic, less environmentally persistent, less bio-accumulative, and that degrade to substances with similar desirable characteristics when compared to ingredients in some conventional formulations.*
The Safer Choice label helps you identify products with safer chemical ingredients, without sacrificing quality or performance. When you see a product with the Safer Choice label, it means that every ingredient in the product has been evaluated by EPA scientists. Only the safest ingredients are allowed in products with the Safer Choice label.
Jelmar's PRO Line formulas for CLR Bath Cleaner, CLR Kitchen Cleaner and CLR Commercial Drain Line & Grease Trap Treatment plus their consumer and PRO Line formulas for CLR Calcium, Lime & Rust Remover, CLR Septic System Treatment and CLR Mold & Mildew Remover as well as the consumer formulas for CLR Bath & Kitchen Cleaner, CLR Stain Magnet and Tarn-X Jewelry Cleaner met the requirements outlined in the Safer Choice Program review process and offer improved health and environmental characteristics. These products contain no inorganic phosphates, hazardous solvents, or environmentally harmful surfactants. Instead, they use a proprietary blend of ingredients which are more environmentally and health conscious than conventional cleaning formulations.
In addition, these consumer and PRO Line products only use surfactants that biodegrade readily into non-polluting substances which helps relieve stress on the environment, especially to aquatic life, making them formulated with the environment and human health strongly in mind.
Jelmar's PRO Line formulas for Bath Cleaner, Kitchen Cleaner and Commercial Drain Line & Grease Trap Treatment plus their consumer and PRO Line formulas for CLR, Septic System Treatment and Mold & Mildew Remover as well as the consumer formulas for Bath & Kitchen Cleaner, Stain Magnet and Tarn-X Jewelry Cleaner are also formulated to help ensure a safe workplace. Users of these products benefit from a formula that includes no ingredients that pose serious hazards. This benefit is also extremely important for janitors, maintenance staff, housekeepers, and others who must use cleaning chemicals in confined spaces on a daily basis. These safer formulas are especially important to children who spend a large part of their day indoors and can be particularly sensitive to the chemicals in some cleaning products. The mild pH, low volatility and low potential to catch fire also enhance the safety profile of CLR, CLR Bath & Kitchen Cleaner and CLR Septic System Treatment.
